Mosquito:- Mosquito (Scientific name: Culicidae) is a kind of flying insects with mouthparts for piercing and sucking. Normally, blood is food for females while plant juice is food for males.
- Mosquitoes have slender body and legs. Their bodies consist of 3 sections: head, thorax and abdomen. Different species have different sizes, while most of them are shorter than 15mm. Their weights are about 2-2.5mg.
- Anopheles attack human mainly in sunrise period in early morning.
- Culexes prefer biting humans and animals in the evening. They are active indoor or around the household. They fly and mate in low altitude at sunrise and sunset periods. Female culexes bite human bodies.
- Aedes is the main mosquito type to transmit Japanese encephalitis and Dengue fever. They always appear in daytime.
Threats of mosquito:
- Mosquitoes are the most annoyed organism; they sometimes cause serious problems to public health. Although their body sizes are small, they can transmit fatal bacteria which affect human health. They also transmit various kinds of viruses to animals such as dogs and horses and can lead to large-scale virus transmission like heartworm disease, eastern equine encephalitis and Nile virus.
